Centre on Global Health Security - Inaugural Information Evening
The newly launched Centre on Global Health Security will be holding its inaugural information evening for those interested in learning about its activities. Dr David Heymann, Head of the Centre, will give a short presentation about future activities and the evening will also provide an opportunity for informal conversation with staff and associates.
The Centre aims to examine and assess policies or mechanisms that facilitate or impede individual and collective health security. Research focuses on: (1) securing sustainable access to quality-assured medicines and vaccines, especially in developing countries; (2) the reduction of collective vulnerability to public health risks across international borders; and (3) maximizing the benefit of health protection as a means of enhancing national economic and social stability and security, especially following natural disasters, civil unrest and war.
