The speaker will take stock of the impact of the global financial crisis on the Middle East and North Africa and present the economic outlook for the region.

Prior to taking up his current position in November 2008, Mr Ahmed served as Director of the IMF's External Relations Department (2006-08), Director General for Policy and International Development at the UK Government's Department for International Development (2003-06). Mr Ahmed has also held a number of positions at the World Bank (1979-2000), including that of Vice President for Poverty Reduction and Economic Management.
