Overview

The international community has devoted substantial funding and human resources to re-establishing security, improving governance and macroeconomic management and rebuilding infrastructure in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to Dr Trefon, the result has been resoundingly negative. In this new book, he argues that international partners and Congolese authorities share responsibility in failing to implement real reform. Through an analysis of the strategies, agendas and weaknesses of Congolese and international actors, this book seeks to explain the reasons for the failure of reform.
