The New Atlantic Decade

23 December 2009 - 12:00pm

Chatham House, London

HE Alexander Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Finland
Chair: Professor Helen Wallace, Centennial Professor, European Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science

The speaker will discuss how the Lisbon Treaty opens new avenues to strengthen the EU-US partnership. He will argue that the functioning international system must continue to be based on core democratic values, traditionally inspired by Europe and North America, however, transatlantic relations need to expand to include emerging economies in the South Atlantic, thus paving way for a New Transatlantic Decade.
