Yemen: Implications of Instability and UK Policy Options
Ginny Hill, Associate Fellow and convenor, Yemen Forum, Chatham House; author, Chatham House Briefing Paper, Yemen: Fear of Failure
Professor Gerd Nonneman, Associate Fellow, Chatham House; Al-Qasimi Professor of Arab Gulf Studies, Exeter University
The speakers will consider how the UK can most effectively foster a holistic approach to Yemen's current challenges, balancing immediate counterterrorism objectives with the need to establish a longer-term framework to support the country in its transition to a post-oil economy. The speakers will also consider how the UK can encourage coordinated international engagement from Yemen's neighbours as well as other major donor countries as they seek to prevent state collapse in this strategic Arabian Peninsula country.
Please note attendance at this event is for MPs and Peers only.
