Vietnam: Opportunities and Risks
THIS EVENT IS FULL AND REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED
The speaker will argue that over the past two decades there has been significant economic progress in Vietnam and increased personal and social freedom. However, he will suggest that the negative consequences of rapid economic growth (environmental and otherwise) are becoming ever more apparent while the Communist Party maintains its position at the apex of society by ensuring that any 'new powers' in society are dependent upon its benevolence.
The speaker will examine whether or not this can continue indefinitely and outline what the future looks like for the Party and the country.
