Liquid Assets: LNG Finance, Risk and the Asian Markets

12 April 2010 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Chatham House, London

Afonso Reis e Sousa, Director at Taylor-deJongh
Respondent: Dr Keun-Wook Paik, Associate Fellow, Chatham House

A great deal is expected from LNG in the coming decade. The vogue for gas is growing at an increasing rate due to a variety of national interests in conserving other fuels and reducing carbon emissions. LNG offers the possibility of greater diversification of sources and a more fluid market. But will there be enough facilities to cope with rising demand and what are the risks of LNG investment?

This talk by LNG finance expert Afonso Reis e Sousa will map out the components of the LNG value chain from production to transportation to the final consumer, discuss factors that impact LNG price, including political risk. The talk will then turn to an overview of LNG specifics in the Asian markets, followed by comments from expert on North East Asian gas security, Dr Keun-Wook Paik.

Attendance is by invitation only.
