The speakers will examine the nature of the economic and political relationship between Turkey and Russia, the likelihood of future energy partnership through proposed pipeline projects such as South Stream, and the prospects for strategic cooperation, or tension in the Caucasus and Black Sea region.

Bruce Clark is Editor of the international news section of The Economist. He is the author of An Empire's New Clothes and Twice a Stranger. He was previously Diplomatic Correspondent for the Financial Times and has worked in Moscow for The Times and for Reuters in Paris and Athens.

Gareth Winrow is an independent analyst based in Oxford. He has worked in Turkey for twenty years where he was a Professor in the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University. He has published extensively on Turkish foreign policy and on energy and regional security issues in the wider Black Sea region. He is the author of Turkey, Russia and the Caucasus: Common and Diverging Interests, Chatham House Briefing Paper (2009).
