America's First Generation of Global Citizens - A Changing Driver of American Foreign Policy

13 May 2010 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Chatham House, London

John Zogby, Pollster, Author and Commentator
Chair: Professor Michael Cox, Associate Fellow, Americas, Chatham House

John Zogby's recent research concerns 'America's First Globals', the group of 18 -30 year-olds who he believes will be far more open in their international outlook and connected to international networks than previous US generations. As this group moves into leadership positions in politics, government and business, they are likely to alter America's traditionally 'exceptionalist' attitude to the international relations of the US.

Mr Zogby will discuss the implications of this research as well as the latest developments in US politics, including the strengthening of President Obama's political position following the successful passage of the healthcare bill.

John Zogby is Chairman of the Board of Zogby International and serves as Chief Insights Officer at the company. He is the author of The Way We'll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream. Mr Zogby currently writes a weekly column for, a weekly report card on President Obama's performance for U.S. News & World Report's Washington Whispers blog, and a monthly column for Politics magazine.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
