Overview

Somaliland's repeatedly delayed presidential elections are now expected to be held at the end of June 2010. At this meeting, representatives of the three official Somaliland political parties will discuss democratic progress in Somaliland and the agreements the parties have signed up to in order to ensure a stable election process.

Somaliland has achieved a remarkable level of stability in comparison to the rest of Somalia and despite many delays and set backs now seems likely to hold presidential elections this summer. The three party representatives will not be engaging in a policy debate but will rather discuss Somaliland's collective aspirations.
