The speaker will examine the strategic rationale for UK engagement in Afghanistan. He will give an overview of the nature of operations on the ground, focussing on the relationship between military, political and stabilisation activity, as well as appraising the progress and challenges that exist, particularly in Southern Afghanistan. As Strategic Communication Officer, General Gordon will also discuss the challenges of communicating the key themes to the British public.
