MONUSCO and the Democratic Republic of Congo
After a distinguished career in the United States Diplomatic Service, Ambassador Meece was appointed UN Special Representative and Head of MONUSCO in June 2010. His appointment comes at a key moment for the DRC and its relationship with the United Nations, and amidst deep concern over violence, including sexual violence, and ongoing political and security challenges across the country. Ambassador Meece will offer some of his perspectives on these concerns and how they are being addressed.
