Coalition Foreign Policy - an assessment and Labour's approach to Opposition
Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, Shadow Foreign Secretary
Chair: Bernice Lee, Research Director, Energy and Resource Governance, Chatham House
Only eight months into the Coalition's foreign policy and two months since the formation of the Shadow Cabinet, key priorities and points of disagreement are already emerging between the Government and the Opposition.
The speaker will suggest that whilst British foreign policy should prioritise prosperity for the UK, given what she sees as the Coalition government's misguided approach to the global economy and narrow foreign policy focus, Labour must question how successful this approach can be. Yvette Cooper, Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary, will propose, in her first public address on foreign policy, that the Government is divided over Europe and uninterested in multilateral institutions.
This event will be live streamed on the Chatham House website for members who are unable to attend.
