The speaker will argue that, over the past 50 years, a confluence of well-intentioned policies have inadvertently put Western countries on a perilous journey of economic demise that will dramatically reduce living standards over the next few decades. Just as a surfeit of foreign aid transfers has contributed to rampant corruption, unsustainable debt burdens, and even fuelled conflict across the worlds poorest economies, deliberate policy in rich economies has eroded capital, labour and productivity - the three key ingredients that drive economic growth.
