Future Prospects for EU Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy

13 January 2011 - 12:00am

Chatham House, London

Štefan Füle, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy
Chair: Robin Niblett, Director, Chatham House

A year into the mandate of the new EU Commission, work continues across the enlargement countries towards their goal of EU membership: from visa liberalisation to constitutional reform, from implementing the SAA to opening accession negotiations.

The speaker will argue that, especially in difficult economic times, enlargement policy plays a key role in meeting the broad strategic interests of the European Union - including its future prosperity.

The discussion will also look beyond the enlargement process and assess where the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) might stand following the lessons learnt in the ENP review.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
