Overview

This event will mark the launch of Professor Pranab Bardhan's new book, Awakening Giants, Feet of Clay: Assessing the Rise of China and India.

The book examines the rise of India and China, and seeks to demolish the myths that have accumulated around the economic achievements of the two giants in the last quarter century. Exploring the challenges that both countries must overcome to become leaders in the international economy, the author investigates the two countries' policy changes, political and economic structures, and current general performance .

The event is the first in a series held as part of the Chatham House - CAGE partnership supported by the ESRC. The seminars will aim to bring prominent academics to share their views and ideas on key issues in international economics with an expert audience.

Attendance is by invitation only.
