Overview

This one-day roundtable event, organised in conjunction with Lieutenant General Newton and Force Development and Training Command, HQ Land Forces, and supported by General Dynamics UK Research Foundation, will critically examine the future demands that will be placed upon British Land Forces and the evolving strategic context in which they will operate.

It will seek to identify the future challenges for which Land Forces must be prepared and the key trends that will drive Force Development and transformation.

Participants will address topics including:

  • the strategic environment following the recent Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR);
  • lessons from current operations and the concept of 'hybrid warfare' as it relates to recent experiences;
  • the level of interoperability achieved (and expected) between UK Land Forces and their allies and partners both in operations and in the delivery of defence and security objectives;
  • and how Land Forces should best prepare to meet the demands of the 21st Century.

This will be a closed, high-level forum held under the Chatham House Rule in order to encourage frank and open debate.

Attendance is by invitation only.
