Prospects for Ukraine's Political and Economic Development
Sergiy Tigipko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Policy, Ukraine
Just over a year since Viktor Yanukovych became President of Ukraine, the speaker will assess the results to date and discuss the political and economic programme of the government. Key issues on the agenda include tackling corruption, reform of the tax code, improvement of the business environment and reforming the state bureaucracy. The speaker will discuss these and other issues and take questions from the audience.
Sergiy Tigipko is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Policy of Ukraine. He has previously served as Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Economic Development from 1997-1999, Minister of Economic Development of Ukraine 1999-2000, and Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine 2002-2004. He has sat as Chairman on the board of a number of companies, including PrivatBank (1992-1997), TAS Financial Industrial Group (2005-2007) and Swedbank (2007-present).
