The Future of Power

10 May 2011 - 1:30pm to 2:30pm

Chatham House, London

Joseph Nye, University Distinguished Service Professor, Harvard University
Chair: Sir Jeremy Greenstock, Former British Ambassador to the United Nations (1998-2003)

The speaker sees two great power shifts occurring in the 21st century: power transition from West to East, and power diffusion from states to non-state actors. He will explore what he thinks these shifts mean for the Western world and explain how it is possible to formulate smart foreign policies to deal with them.
