Dr Maryan Qasim will discuss some of the wider needs and challenges women have been facing in Somalia, especially during times of droughts and famine. She will also examine the role of women in changing the society both politically and socially.

Before joining the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, Dr Qasim worked as a social activist and a community organiser both in the UK and The Netherlands.
