The Political Outlook for Saudi Arabia

31 May 2011 - 2:30pm to 5:30pm

Chatham House, London

Against a backdrop of regional upheaval, this roundtable discussion will bring together regional experts, practitioners and academics to explore the political outlook for Saudi Arabia.

It will look firstly at the internal situation - the issue of political succession, the capacity and willingness to reform, economic and social pressures, and potential challenges to the government. The discussion will go on to cover the country's complex foreign relations, inclu ding the increasingly tense relationship with Iran, the Saudi role in Yemen and Bahrain, and the ways in which the Arab Spring will affect Saudi-US ties and oil output policy.

This event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.

Attendance is by invitation only. The event is full and registration has closed.
