John Peet, Europe Editor, The Economist
Chair: Michael Lake, former EU Ambassador to Turkey (1991-98) and Hungary (1998-2001)

The speaker will argue that the new government faces tough challenges despite its election victory. He will contend that rewriting the constitution will be difficult as the ruling party does not command a big enough majority in parliament.  Furthermore he will address the issue of Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's style of leadership, Turkey's Kurdish question and how both the Arab Spring and stalled EU membership talks will test the country's foreign policy approach.
