One Year On: The Changing Debate Around Shale Gas

Chatham House, London

Event Documents

Participants

Florence Gény, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and Statoil

Overview

The House of Commons Select Committee on Energy and Climate Change recently appeared to give shale gas operations a clean bill of health. This roundtable discussion will consider whether this decision was premature, given that a recent Cornell University study implies that shale gas operations are worse than coal in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. As a number of other assessments continue in the United States and Europe, Florence Gény will discuss some of the emerging issues around shale gas.

Attendance is by invitation only.
