The speaker will give an overview of the state of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in China. He will discuss whether external insistence and promotion of ethical trading can improve labour standards and CSR in China. He will offer policy recommendations to relevant stakeholders: policy-makers, trade unions, NGOs, transnational corporations, UK/EU retailers, and scholars.

The Institute of Contemporary Observation is the only social enterprise specialized in CSR and labour rights in China.

This event is being held jointly with the China Policy Institute of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham, the Asia Programme at Chatham House and the Great Britain China Centre.
