Overview

The speaker will discuss recent developments in Georgia and the challenges facing the government. The country experienced heightened political tensions earlier this year, with large anti-government protests taking place in the capital, Tbilisi. Increasing economic problems, criticism from the political opposition and from abroad, and the continued impasse over the breakaway territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia pose serious challenges for the ruling regime in the lead up to presidential elections in 2013.

This event is strictly by invitation only.
