The speaker will discuss the means by which farmers in Eastern Indonesia may reduce risk to their livelihoods and their families’ incomes in an environment of increasing uncertainty. He will assess the impact of factors including climate, natural disasters, poverty and market-related phenomena, and will detail strategies for defending against risk and mitigating the effects of shocks.
