Resource Revolution: Meeting the World's Energy, Materials, Food, and Water Needs
Over the next 20 years, 3 billion new middle class consumers will enter the economy, representing an economic transformation of a historically unprecedented rate and scale. Can the world meet the resource demands of these new consumers? Do we have a hope of tackling environmental issues such as climate change if we do?
New analysis by the McKinsey Global Institute explores a range of options for meeting future resource demand, from boosting supply, to improving productivity of resource extraction and use, to developing new 'clean' sources of materials and energy. It analyses the economic and environmental consequences of pursuing these options.
Following a short presentation of the report itself there will be an interactive panel discussion of its findings between representatives from government and the mining, energy and finance sectors, together with a Q&A session with the audience.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
