Serbia’s Path Towards the European Union

8 November 2011 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Chatham House, London

Bozidar Djelic, Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia
Chair: Stephen Wordsworth, former British Ambassador to Serbia

Two years after Serbia’s official application for European Union membership, the European Commission has recommended the country for candidacy. Although Serbia aims to join the EU by 2014, several challenges remain. Despite the recent arrest of war crimes suspects, negotiations remain contingent on the normalisation of Serbia’s relationship with Kosovo. Deputy Prime Minister Djelic will discuss the process and the political significance of candidacy and accession.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
