The Arab uprisings provoked considerable ambivalence in the United States: between support for Arab democratic aspirations, concern about the complexion of popularly elected governments and the desire to maintain security and economic relationships. As post-revolution governments take shape in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia and unrest continues in Syria, the speaker will explore the future of US policy in the Middle East.
