Negotiating with Neighbours: Niger’s Regional Policy and Influence

15 December 2011 - 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Chatham House, London

His Excellency Mohamed Bazoum, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Niger

At a time of growing security concerns and the prospect of a regional food crisis - but also of growing investor interest - Niger is set to play a more pivotal role in regional affairs in the coming years. At this private roundtable, the speaker will discuss his country’s plans to manage key issues, both positive and negative, that impact Niger, its neighbours and its international partners. In addition to discussing matters relating to security and trafficking, he will consider positive trends in the region and opportunities for enhanced cooperation.

The main presentation will be held on the record with the Q&A under the Chatham House Rule.

Please note that the presentation will be made in French with consecutive interpretation into English.
