Russia's Asian Policy

7 February 2012 - 3:30pm to 4:30pm

Chatham House, London

Alexander Lukin, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO)

The speaker will discuss Russia's changing geostrategic landscape in Asia. As the European financial crisis continues, Vladimir Putin may continue bolstering Russia’s position in East Asia after his expected return to presidency in March. China has already overtaken Germany as Russia’s main business partner, although energy relations remain complicated. The speaker will also consider recent changes such as Kim Jong Un’s accession to power in North Korea, which has brought uncertainty to the region.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
