Anaiz Parfait, European Campaign Director, Global Zero

In the context of an evolving and complex nuclear security environment, the panel will assess the direction of the global nuclear weapons agenda.

The speakers will examine the links between nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and what a world with zero nuclear weapons would mean. They will evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, sanctions and other policy efforts in eliminating the nuclear threat. They will discuss the potential removal of tactical nuclear weapons stationed in Europe and also explore the role and impact of civil society in the debate.

The event will feature a screening of clips from Countdown to Zero, a documentary film produced by Global Zero. This will be followed by a discussion between the panel and the audience until 20:15, and finish with a drinks reception.
