Winners and Losers in a Leaderless World

10 May 2012 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Chatham House, London

Ian Bremmer, President and Co-Founder, Eurasia Group; Author, Every Nation For Itself: Winners and Losers in a G-Zero World

With America struggling to pay its bills, Europe busy trying to save the eurozone, and emerging powers wrestling with many complex challenges at home, Ian Bremmer will argue that no single country or bloc of countries has the political and economic muscle to drive an international agenda.

He will say that the world faces a lack of global leadership at a time when it is needed the most. In his view, a world without leaders will undermine the world’s ability to keep the peace in Asia and the Middle East; to grow the global economy; to reverse the impact of climate change; to feed growing populations; and to protect the most basic of all necessities - air, food, and water. He will explore the impact of a ‘world without leadership’ and the balance of power most likely to emerge from this scenario.

This event will be followed by a reception at 19:30.

LIVE STREAM: This event will be live streamed for members only. The live stream will be made available here at 18:30 BST on Thursday 10 May.
