Russia’s Position on the Energy Charter

27 April 2012 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Chatham House, London

Andrei Belyi, Associate Professor, Energy and Resource Markets Department, Higher School of Economics, Moscow

Russia was one of the signatories of the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) in 1994, but it has not ratified the document to date, and in 2009 the Russian government terminated the provisional application of ECT. The aim of the Energy Charter is to establish a legal framework to promote long-term cooperation in the energy sector.

Andrei Belyi will discuss possible future developments in Russia’s energy policy and the country’s relationship with this key regime to promote trade, investment and reliable transit.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
