Overview

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are set to be one of the largest mass gatherings this year, with 8 million Olympic and 2 million Paralympic tickets available to spectators. Ten thousand athletes representing 205 countries will take part in competitions across 34 venues within the UK. As such, the Olympics pose a number of significant public health challenges to health and security authorities both within the UK and abroad.

This meeting, held at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, will bring together key figures in public health to consider how international collaboration can increase resilience to such health and security risks in future.
