The Japan-US Alliance: Implications for the UK

In the face of emerging and increasingly complicated security challenges, Japan is seeking wider and multi-layered security cooperation with the US and its allies. The speaker will discuss how measures to overcome long-standing issues, such as the promotion of capacity-building and the review of the Japanese guidelines on the overseas transfer of defence equipment, will provide opportunities for substantial security and defence cooperation between Japan, the UK and NATO.
