Migration: Creating Networks for Business, Politics and Growth
Robert Guest, Business Editor, The Economist
Professor Ian Goldin, Director, Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford
Chair: Alan Philps, Editor, The World Today
Throughout history, migrants have fuelled the engine of human progress. Their movement has sparked innovation, spread ideas, relieved poverty, and laid the foundations for a global economy. Cheap travel and easy communication allows today's migrants to create extensive and intimate cross-border networks, in a way that was in the past unthinkable.
The speakers will argue that the way in which these networks speed up the flow of ideas across borders has profound consequences for business, technology and politics. They will put forward new approaches for governance that embrace international mobility.
