Overview

The speaker will discuss the findings of his report, Unleashing the Nuclear Watchdog: Strengthening and Reform of the IAEA. The report examines aspects of the IAEA’s mandate and operations, from major programmes on safeguards, safety, security and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, plus governance, management and finance. The speaker will put forward a number of recommendations, both strategic and programmatic, for strengthening and reforming the IAEA. 

The report marks the culmination of a two-year project which was a joint undertaking of CIGI’s Global Security Program and the Canadian Centre for Treaty Compliance (CCTC) at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada
