Putin and the Silovik Wars

29 June 2012 - 11:00am to 12:30pm

Chatham House, London

Peter Reddaway, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Affairs, George Washington University

The Russian elites are often portrayed as a uniform group of former security services officers - or siloviki - presided over and controlled by Vladimir Putin. However, the siloviki consist of diverse groups attached to individuals close to Putin. Peter Reddaway will discuss the power relationships among these groups, the degree of control Putin has over them and likely developments in the power structure.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
