The Influence of Russia's Past on its Present and Future

4 July 2012 - 10:30am to 12:00pm

Chatham House, London

David Satter, Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute; Fellow, Foreign Policy Institute of John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies

To date, there has been no systematic effort in Russia to address the crimes committed by the Communist regime and understand the meaning of the Communist experience. Recent political events have shown that many features of the previous regime, such as glorification of the state and disregard for public opinion, remain in place.

David Satter will discuss the impact of Russia's historical legacy on its political life today.

Attendance is by invitation only.
