Extraordinary General Meeting
The Chatham House Council have recommended that the institute seek to make amendments to its Royal Charter. The procedure for changing the Royal Charter is laid down in Clause 13 and states that any change to the Charter must be approved by Special Resolution passed by members of the institute attending an Extraordinary General Meeting called by Council.
Making these changes to the Charter would allow Chatham House to enter into a full ten-year lease (with three-year break clause) for the second floor of Ames House (located next door to Chatham House). This important initiative will enable the institute to continue to expand its research capacity and maintain its recent growth.
To invoke this change under Article 13 of the Charter, members are requested to agree to several amendments. Please read this document to see the full amendments.
Members will be asked to vote at this Extraordinary General Meeting.
