Afghanistan: The Humanitarian Legacy of Conflict
The speaker will address the humanitarian situation facing the Afghan population after 11 years of the most recent conflict. He will focus on the legacy of this conflict on ordinary Afghans, caught in-between numerous opposing factions, and what it means for a country which is fast approaching an end to the transition by international military forces. Despite a decade of Afghan state-building, reconstruction and development assistance, the challenges facing service delivery and concrete improvement in security, livelihood and civil rights remain all too numerous.
This event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
