Ron Suskind, Senior Fellow, Edmund Safra Center for Ethics, Harvard University
Chair: Dr DeAnne Julius, Chairman of Chatham House (2003-12)

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ron Suskind will argue that self-governance in America has not been functioning effectively in the years since 9/11, marked by two expensive wars, reckless budgetary policies and the fuelling of a bubble economy with cheap money that assures the dangerous underpricing of risk. He will assess President Obama’s tenure, Mitt Romney’s challenge and what he considers to be truly at stake in the 2012 US presidential election.
