The Future of the Oil and Gas Industry
John Mitchell, Associate Fellow, Energy, Environment and Resources, Chatham House
John Mitchell will argue that the oil and gas industry must change radically to satisfy investors' and governments' expectations as it responds to significant changes. These include the impact of climate change policies on demand patterns, competition from the automotive industry, new prospects for expanding oil and gas reserves and technology-led opportunities for the private sector to access state companies' projects. He will also discuss the geopolitical questions raised for global oil supply by a changing role for OPEC given that Asian markets now absorbing more oil than the Middle East can supply.
Attendance is strictly by invitation only. To enable as open a debate as possible, this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
