Nuclear Iran: Negotiating a Way Out
Dr Seyed Hossein Mousavian, Research Scholar, The Program on Science and Global Security, Princeton University
Chair: Sir Richard Dalton, Associate Fellow, Middle East and North Africa Programme, Chatham House
Nuclear negotiations are due to recommence between Iran and the six-nation group of Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US. Sanctions against Iran are now seriously affecting the Iranian economy and speculation about war with Iran has abated but may reappear in 2013 if there is no progress on the substance of the dispute. Can both sides move beyond past positions and reach agreement?
Dr Hossein Mousavian, former senior Iranian nuclear negotiator now at Princeton, will assess the strategies of the parties to the talks and suggest ways forward.
