Israel's Future: Ideology vs Pragmatism

12 March 2013 - 8:00am to 9:15am

Chatham House, London

Efraim Halevy, Director, Mossad (1998-2002); Head, Israeli National Security Council (2002-03)

As Israel's new government takes office, the speaker will explore the choices it faces in its approach to internal and external challenges.

He will argue that Israel faces the choice of an approach based on ideology and confrontation versus one rooted in realism and pragmatism. He will review Israel's position of engagement with regional and international partners, including how it is responding to the crisis in Syria, Iran's nuclear threat, the issue of Palestine and President Obama’s forthcoming visit.

Attendance is strictly by invitation only. To enable as open a debate as possible, this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.

This event is only open to Major Corporate Member and Partner organizations of Chatham House.
