Pierre Buyoya, African Union Special Representative, Mali and the Sahel and Head, African-led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA); President of Burundi (1987-1993, 1996-2003)



At this roundtable, the Special Representative will discuss AFISMA’s role in securing peace and stability in Mali, and the African Union's efforts to combat the longstanding and interconnected issues of terrorism and organized crime in North-West Africa.

Former president of Burundi Pierre Buyoya, was appointed as the African Union's High Representative for Mali and the Sahel, and as Head of AFISMA, following the French military intervention in Mali.

The Q&A will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
