Since its inception in 2000, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has been the official opposition to the ruling ANC in South Africa. In the 2009 elections the party won 77 parliamentary seats and took control of the Western Cape provincial government.

At this event Lindiwe Mazibuko, the party's parliamentary leader, will discuss the DA's success in recent elections, its priorities and role in parliament, and perspectives on the economic, social and political challenges confronting South Africa.
