Meeting Summary: Local Conflicts, National Stability: Managing Conflict in Libya as a Platform for Successful Transition
pdf | 65 KB

Chair: Sir Richard Dalton, Convener, Libya Working Group; Associate Fellow, Middle East and North Africa Programme, Chatham House

The Libya Working Group will meet to explore the relationship between local conflict and national reform and stability.

They will consider the policy considerations surrounding the complex set of interests in Libya at a local, regional and national level. The Political Isolation Law, passed at the beginning of May, was a contentious step on the path to transitional justice and reconciliation - how was this shaped by these competing interests, and how can policy reflect diversity while developing a coherent approach to security and transition? As instability and incidents of violence continue, how do conflict dynamics affect security development?

This event will be hosted in partnership with the Peaceful Change initiative.
