The Rule of Law in South Africa: Measuring Judicial Performance and Meeting Standards
South Africa's justice sector has been coming under increasing scrutiny at home and abroad. Considerable progress and change has been brought through reform, but concerns remain over disparities between national performance and international standards. International attention has been focused on the Constitutional Court as the highest authority for the interpretation, protection and enforcement of the constitution.
At this meeting the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mogoeng Mogoeng will discuss the South African justice sector and the Constitutional Court's achievements in the implementation of what is widely regarded as one of the strongest constitutions in the world in safeguarding human rights and political freedom.
